Undergraduate Program

Research Opportunities

ON CAMPUS

Office of Undergraduate Research
Dr. Michael Gaines heads this office, which lists both paid and non-paid research opportunities with faculty mentors.  You can get more information from the progam coordinator  or from the office's web page, which outlines your options.

Honors Program
If you are in the Honors program, you can contact their office.  At Hughes House, you can browse notebooks that contain Summer research opportunities as well as obtain the necessary forms to apply for these competitive positions.  If a research position is not listed in an area that interests you, you can approach a faculty member and ask if he or she would submit a form to Honors.  Students participating in Summer research receive 3 credits, a $1500 stipend, and a grade (which shows up on your transcript the following semester).

Office of the Dean, College of Arts & Science
The College of Arts & Science Dean's office sponsors the Beyond the Book competition which supports Summer research.  For an idea of the scope of projects that have been selected in the past, please look at the Beyond the Book website
